Great Journey of 2019 - Episode 2 of Season 5

Day 4 - Mar 12

Sometimes you just have to take a break from all the fun and do laundry.   That was the task this morning.   The room had a microwave but did not have any dish's.  For breakfast
we used the paper coffee cups in the room as bowls and spoons that we had drug along with us to eat cereal that we still had from Daytona

After lunch we drove over towards Marysville.  On the way out of town, we found Dolly Parton getting ready to sing us a song.

We took back roads through the low lands and checked out a friends home and neighborhood.   Joe wasn't home so we just did a drive by.   We then started hunting. We found some potential areas to move to between Marysville and Knoxville.

That night we went to the Opry House for entertainment.  It was a variety show that just opened for the season.  The music was ok, a bit off key.  It was entertaining.

Day 5 - Mar 13

LoriAnn caught some awesome morning sunrises.  Here is one from this morning.

Today we toured Knoxville.  We went into town and then did a big circle around it.   Knoxville is a very promising location.  We then headed to Strawberry Plain (not impressed) and then into Kodak (promising).  We also found some great scenery.

We found this interesting underpass in Strawberry Plain.

That night for dinner we went to a dinner show; The Hatfields and the Mccoys.   We sat on the Mccoy's side and cheered for the our side.

Day 6 - Mar 14

This morning we left Gatlinburg, cruised through Knoxville, and then toured Crossville TN.   We found small communities that could be possible.  I liked Crossville because it was nestled in the mountains.

From Crossville, we went into Murfreesboro, TN.   We bypassed Cookesville, due to time considerations. We liked Murfreesboro.  There were plenty of home opportunities, and it is large enough to support our habits.

From Murfreesboro, we drove over to Spring Hill TN.  Although Spring Hill is a growing area, we didn't have a good connection here.   There were beautiful homes, but just outside of our price point.

Day 7 - Mar 15

Today we turned north and headed for home.   We had a little excitement when we missed a turn. We went about 20 miles passed it before we realized our mistake.   We ended up taking a leg of a triangle on Highway 9.  This detour cost us about 30 minutes of drive time. We checked into the Super 8 in Rochelle IL.   It was a great location that was new, clean and not far from restaurants.

Day 8 - Mar 16.

Home - We got on the road around 8:45 AM, leaving Rochelle IL, and arrived home at 3 PM.  When we passed through Madison WI we encountered the snow.   It got deeper and deeper as we drove north.   It was a bit of a shock when we got home.

We drove approximately 4,846 miles and visited 10 States.

Come back to read about the pro's and con's summary of the trip, and to find out if we add an additional town to our top 3!
