Memorial Day 2011

My wife and I visited the national cemetary yesterday. We were there to pay respect to our loved ones.

As we passed by the thousands of markers, my thoughts drifted to the Army and Marine, men and women fighting our nations current battles. Thank you for serving.

On the many stones in the field was an indication of the branch of service each person had served in. Yes there were many veterans from the Army and the Marines. But surrounding them were veterans from the Navy, the Airforce, and the Coast Guard.

As I looked about I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 12; The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

I know that our military in one body provides me my freedom. But still, as I watched the many tributes and thank you's being sent out through the media, I became aware of the lack of presence from the other parts of our military.

Now, not to diminish the honor and dignity that those who serve in the Army and Marine Corps deserve, I want to send a special thank you to the members or veterans of the Navy, Coast Guard and the Air Force.

Each member of our military deserves our respect and thank you!
